In the past, especially for American motorcycles, the bigger was always better. However, this has started to change in recent years. Even Harley, famous for its big noisy bikes, decided to produce electric motorcycle. As such, competition began to rise. In this fast-growing market, Curtiss Motorcycles is coming to break the mold with its V8 electric motor.
Curtiss’s new model, Hera, aims to create a new class in the world of motorcycles. Developed by Curtiss and first seen on Zeus electric motorcycle, the E-Twin engine design is also available in Hera. This design consists of two single-shaft electric motors.
Curtiss Motorcycles CEO Matt Chambers explains:
“With Hera, we set out to create the world’s most luxurious motorcycle. Featuring the world’s first V8 battery architecture, an ultra-powerful, yet refined, E-Twin motor, and a 66-inch wheelbase, Hera will occupy a class all her own.”
Curtiss Design Director, Jordan Cornille, says that when designing Hera, they were inspired by the original V8 model that Glenn Curtiss used in 1907 and was awarded the “Fastest Man on Earth” title.
Curtiss, who has not yet entered the mass production process for Hera, is aiming to do so with a crowdfunding campaign. Launching an equity crowdfunding campaign, Curtiss offers investors a minimum of 5,000 shares for $1,000.
So far, the company says that they have already raised almost $1.7 million from only 9 investors. If everything goes well, Hera is expected to be released in 2019.
