The Matrix’s Powerwatch smartwatch series, which doesn’t need to be charged, comes with a new version. Matrix Powerwatch 2, introduced in CES 2019, can generate electricity with body heat and solar power.
Matrix Industries, which works on material science, aims to “change the way we use the energy previously wasted.” The company reflects this goal to its products and once again demonstrates this with the new model, the PowerWatch 2.
Matrix Powerwatch 2 does not need any charger or battery. It provides the electricity it needs by body heat and solar power.
Powerwatch 2 is thus able to offer smart features to its users without interruption. These include built-in heart rate monitor and GPS, as well as full-colour display, notifications, calorie count, fitness tracking features.
Compatible with iOS and Android phones, the smartwatch can also be integrated with third-party fitness platforms such as Apple HealthKit and Google Fit. Powerwatch 2 is also waterproof up to 200 meters.
The smartwatch, which comes alive through a crowdfunding campaign, has raised more than $ 800,000 in funds. With a pre-order price of $ 200, the device will be available in June 2019.
